COVID-19 Wisconsin Update #237 (4-9-21) Week-In-Review


Week In Review


  • 290 Hospital Admissions and 74 patients in ICU
    • Hospital admissions were up 46 for the week (+46).
    • The total number of ICU patients increased by 14 (+14) for the week.
  • Cumulatively there have been 583,935 positive tests in Wisconsin:
    • 5,348 positive tests reported last week, which is up 1,631, +1,631, from the previous week.  
    • The 7-day average for positive tests is now 764+/day. (7-day average was 531+/day last week)
  • Deaths from COVID-19 are at 6,672 in Wisconsin. 
    • 39 COVID-19 related deaths this past week, +3 more than the week prior.
    • The 7-day average for deaths is 6 deaths/day, which is +1 more/day than week prior.
  • 568,453 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are listed as having recovered (97.4%), 8,566 cases are still considered active (1.5% and +1,423 versus last week) and 6,672 patients have died (1.1%). (last updated by DHS on 4/9)

    • 3,364,565 vaccine doses allocated to Wisconsin (+361,820 more than week prior)
    • 3,380,401 vaccines have been administered (an increase of +402,313 since last week)
    • 2,089,526 Wisconsinites (35.9%) have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine series (+229,886 over last week)
    • 1,330,471 Wisconsinites (22.9%) have completed their vaccine series. (An increase of +209,165 since last week)

Positive Test Results


There were 5,348 new positive tests reported last week, which is up 1,631, +1,631 from the previous week.  

  • An average of 764 positive test results per dayWas 531+/day the previous week.




Milwaukee county had the highest number of new positive cases with 998 new positives, 166 more, +166 than the previous week.

  • Dane county came in with the second highest number of new cases, 580, which is 195 more, +195 than the previous week.
  • Rounding out the top five counties with the most positive new cases were; 
    • Waukesha county; 465 new cases, +123 more than the previous week
    • Rock county; 201 new cases, +52 more than the previous week
    • Brown county; 195 new cases, +45 more than the previous week








  • There were 39 COVID-19 related deaths+3 more than the week prior.





    • Milwaukee county had 6 of the 39 deaths from the last week, which is +1 more than reported the previous week. 
      • Jefferson, Rock and Washington counties each reported 3 deaths
      • St. Croix, Douglas, Kewaunee and Waukesha counties each reported 2 deaths
