COVID-19 Wisconsin Update #222 (1-2-21)
With the 2021-2022 Legislative session beginning this week we will be switching the COVID-19 Wisconsin Update to this weekly “Week-In-Review” update. If there are urgent or time sensitive updates, we will post those on a case-by-case basis.
Week-in-Review:
- 1,010 Hospital Admissions, 227 patients in ICU, 0 patients at the Alternate Care Facility
- Hospital admissions are down 60 (-60) for the week.
- The total number of ICU patients decreased by 11 (-11) for the week.
- The total number of patients at the ACF has remained at 0 for the week.
- Cumulatively there have been 483,007 positive tests in Wisconsin:

- 15,108 new positives reported last week, which is 1,115 less, (-1,115) than the previous week
- The 7-day average for positive tests is now 2,158+/day. (was 2,317+/day last week)

- Deaths from COVID-19 are at 4,869 in Wisconsin.

- 190 deaths were reported last week, which is 174 less (-174) than last week.
- The 7-day average for deaths is now 27 deaths/day. (was 52 deaths/day last week)

- 450,358 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are listed as having recovered (93.3%), 27,644 cases are still considered active (5.7%) and 4,869 patients have died (1.0%). (last updated by DHS on 1/1)

Positive Test Results
There were 15,108 positive tests reported last week, which is down 1,115, (-1,115) from the previous week.
- An average of 2,158 positive test results per day. Was 2,317+/day the previous week.
Milwaukee county had the highest number of new positive cases, with 2,438 new positives, 369 less, (-369), than the previous week.
- Dane county came in with the second highest number of new cases, 1,165, which is 110 more, +110 than the previous week.
- Rounding out the top five counties with the most positive new cases were;
- Waukesha county; 1,080 new cases, (193) less than the previous week
- Brown county; 723 new cases, +92 more than the previous week
- Racine county; 656 new cases, +96 more than the previous week
Deaths
- There were 190 COVID-19 related deaths, (174) less than the week prior.

- Milwaukee county had 29 of the 190 deaths from the last week, which is (70) less than the number of deaths in the county reported the previous week.
- Waukesha county reported 17 deaths, (11) less than last week;
- Dodge county reported 11 deaths, (2) less than last week;
- Walworth county reported 10 deaths, +2 more than the previous week;
- Vernon county reported 8 deaths, +7 more than compared to the previous week.
- Milwaukee county had 29 of the 190 deaths from the last week, which is (70) less than the number of deaths in the county reported the previous week.
