COVID-19 Wisconsin Update #160 (9-25-20)

Updated numbers from Friday September 25th, 2020 and Week-In-Review

  • 543 Current Hospital Admissions (147 patients in ICU)
    • Hospital admissions are up 15 (+15) since Thursday.
      • For four days in a row Wisconsin has hit new pandemic length highs in current hospital admissions
      • Hospital admissions are up 201 (+201) for the week.
    • The total number of ICU patients reported decreased by 4, (-4) since Thursday.
      • The total number of ICU patients reported increased by 49 (+49) for the week.
  • Cumulatively there have been 1,494,473 COVID-19 tests in Wisconsin;
    • 110,828 positive tests and 1,383,645 negative tests in Wisconsin (7.4% positive rate for the pandemic)
      • On Friday there were 2,504 positive tests reported on 15,079 tests (16.6% positive rate Friday)
        • The 7-day average for positive tests is now 1,936/day
  • Deaths from COVID-19 are at 1,274 in Wisconsin.
    • On Friday there were 9 deaths reported
  • 92,366 patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 and are listed as having recovered (83.4%), 17,170 cases are still considered active (15.5%) and 1,274 patients have died (1.1%). (last updated by DHS on 9/25)

Positive Test Results

There were 13,549 positive tests reported last week, which is up 2,520, +2,520, from the previous week.

  • An average of 1,936 positive test results per day. Was 1,576/day the previous week.

 

Milwaukee county had the highest number of new positive cases, with 1,535 new positives, 416 more, +416, than the previous week.

  • Brown county came in with the second highest number of new cases, 1,316, which is 367 more,  +368 than the previous week.
  • Rounding out the top five counties with the most positive new cases were;
    • Winnebago county; 919 new cases, +321 more than the previous week
    • Dane county; 890 new cases, (311) less than the previous week
    • Outagamie county; 753 new cases, +41 more than the previous week

Deaths
  • There were 36 COVID-19 related deaths, 5 less than week prior, (5).
    • Milwaukee county had 6 of the 36 deaths from the last week, which is 5 less, (5), than the number of deaths in the county reported the previous week.
    • Dodge county had 5 deaths, +4 more than the prior week.
    • Brown county had 3 deaths, +2 more than the week prior
    • Winnebago, Waukesha, Outagamie and Wood counties each had 2 deaths this week.

Testing;
  • There were 81,936 tests conducted over the past week (an average of 11,705 tests/day)
    • There were 9,683 more tests conducted this past week (+9,683) than the prior week.

Percent Positive Test Results:
  • On average, 16.5% of tests came back positive this week.
